RBL back in training
RB Leipzig begin preparations ahead of the second half of the season | First game back is on Saturday at home against FSV Mainz 05 | Team news as the training week begins
The Bundesliga is in sight! On Saturday (15:30 CET), RBL welcome FSV Mainz 05 to the Red Bull Arena. Nevertheless, until the weekend’s restart, head coach Domenico Tedesco is making his players sweat in training.
Sessions at 10:30 and 15:00 CET today provided an opportunity to push his players once more, as they look to hit the ground running in the second half of the season.
Finally back in action
After suffering a tear in his calf, Yussuf Poulsen was able to get through all training sessions without any issues during the winter break, and he was joined by Lukas Klostermann (thigh) and Sidney Raebiger (knee) in joining team training after injuries.
Emil Forsberg (thigh injury near to his hip) is completing a rehabilitation programme in Leipzig and is making good progress. Konrad Laimer is working to come back from a ligament injury in his ankle and should be back in training at some point this week.
Amadou Haidara (Mali) and Ilaix Moriba (Guinea) travelled to join up with their national teams straight after the winter break to prepare for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (9th January – 6th February).
Update on Coronavirus cases at the club
RB Leipzig will be without further players for this weekend’s fixture against FSV Mainz 05 after the results of the latest round of Coronavirus testing.
A chance for the young guns
Fabian Eutinger, Mehmet Ibrahimi, Michael Kostka, Julius Pfennig and Eric Uhlmann from the U19s will all be taking part in first team training over the coming days.
