From David Raum to Oranje-Power: The RBL Headlines in the EURO 2024

The stats where Nicolas Seiwald, Willi Orban and Dominik Szoboszlai dominate | The statistics and facts of the UEFA EURO 2024

The group stage is over, all the places for the Round of 16 have been assigned. It's time to check up on the best moments of the first have of the tournament.

Die Gruppenphase ist vorbei, alle Achtelfinal-Tickets sind vergeben. Zeit für einen Blick auf die Momente der ersten Turnier-Hälfte.

In the thick of it, plenty of RB Leipzig!

Die Niederlande-Fans strömen in die Red Bull Arena.

A party atmosphere everywhere!

  • Just after the end of the group stage, it's safe to say: The UEFA Euro 2024 in Germany can confidently be called an absolute football fest. Irregardless if the fans are Albanian, Turkisch or Georgian, the supporters have guaranteed a euphoric mood in and around the Euro stadiums.

Leipzig was a good example of it! The Dutch flooded our city for an evening in Oranje, the Croatians brought their great energy the night before their match into Leipzig's downtown, the same way Italian, Czech or French fans spread their good mood and desire for more top-quality football in Leipzig.

It's great that we still have a promising match between Austria and Turkey in the Red Bull Arena! We're crossing our fingers for the RBL duo of Christoph Baumgartner and Nicolas Seiwald. We can also look forward to September and the UEFA Champions League games RB Leipzig will be playing. The Champions League will have a new format the season 2024/25.

Huge interest

  • A total of 1,857,969 spectators went to the 36 group stage matches. In the three games in Leipzig, 115,274 fans were present.

  • The Fan Zone in Augustusplatz in Leipzig has hosted around 175,000 visitors.

David Raum freut sich über seinen Assist gegen die Schweiz.

Raum for a dream cross

  • Last season was the confirmation of something that is well known: David Raum is one of the most effective crossers in the Bundesliga (the most crosses in all the Bundesliga).

After being subbed in during the thirst group stage match against Switzerland, David was able to prove himself. In stoppage time he delivered the perfect cross to Niclas Füllkrug, who headed the 1-1 in.

We're looking forward to what else can Raumi deliver in the Euros!

Willi Orban nimmt Granit Xhaka den Ball ab.

Nobody can compare to Willi Orban

  • There's been more than enough proof for the RB Leipzig fans to know how well-versed Willi Orban is in defense. And he's confirmed his quality at the EURO 2024. No other player intercepted more passes during the group stage as he has.

Only England's center-back Marc Guehi was able to compete with Orban, also tallying 26 recoveries.
Nicolas Seiwald im Zweikampf mit Polens Piotr Zielinski.

Nicolas Seiwald following Philipp Lahm closely

  • Nici Seiwald finished the group stage with a total of 13 tackles – all the while no committing a single foul.

The only player capable of delivering more tackles without fouling the opposition, was Philipp Lahm, with 14... back in 2008.
Christoph Baumgartner jubelt gemeinsam mit ÖFB-Coach Ralf Rangnick über sein Tor gegen Polen.

Who will follow Christoph Baumgartner?

  • Christoph Baumgartner's goal for Austria's 2-1 partial result against Poland in the second group stage match was the first for one of the Red Bulls in the UEFA EURO 2024. Will there be another RBL goal scored in the knockout stage? Along with Baumi and Nici Seiwald, there are seven other Red Bulls still in play.
  • The best striker and top scorer of the group stage was Georges Mikautadze. The Georgian has found the back of the net three times and provided an assist. Christoph Baumgartner is so far the most successful scorer among the Red Bulls (1 goal / 1 assist).
Wiedersehen bei der EM: Dominik Szoboszlai (jetzt FC Liverpool) vor dem Gruppenspiel gegen Deutschland im Gespräch mit Benny Henrichs und David Raum.

Dominik Szoboszlai's specialty

  • RB Leipzig doesn't need much convincing of his exquisite footballing technique: He was a Red Bull for two years, between 2021 and 2023, who won the DFB Cup in 2022 and 2023. His strong right foot was a provider of joy for RB Leipzig thanks to a flurry of stunning goals, including some amazing free kicks.

During the group stage, the Hungarian captain was in charge of taking a total of 18 free kicks under his name, more than any other player. There is yet a goal to be scored from one.
Domenico Tedesco und Julian Nagelsmann treffen sich in der Red Bull Arena vor einem Spiel.

Moving on!

  • Ralf Rangnick (2015/16 and 2018/19), Julian Nagelsmann (2019 - 2021), and Domenico Tedesco (2021 - 2022) were all managers at RB Leipzig. They are also active in the UEFA EURO 2024. All of them qualified past the group stage and are awaiting their Round of 16 fixtures.

For Julian Nagelsmann the ball rolls again on Saturday (9:00 PM CEST) with the Germany-Denmark match. Domenico Tedesco's turn is on Monday (6:00 PM CEST), when his Belgium meet France. And Ralf Rangnick will have his moment come on Tuesday (9::00 PM CEST) in Leipzig, when Austria and Turkey battle out a spot among the quarter finals.
