RB Leipzig will visit Eintracht Frankfurt on Matchday 34

A win to make history - Frankfurt trying to hold onto sixth

The match preview for the Bundesliga game between Eintracht Frankfurt and RB Leipzig

End the season with a record!

RB Leipzig conclude the season with a trip to Eintracht Frankfurt on Matchday 34. As with all games this weekend, kick-off is on Saturday at 3.30pm.

For us, it's about matching a record: If we win, we'll end the league season with 67 points - levelling the number we managed in our maiden Bundesliga season, when we finished as runners-up.

Frankfurt can build on their home record against RBL: In eight home meetings so far, the Hessians are undefeated, whilst celebrating four wins. For SGE it's still about securing qualification next season's Europa League. Eintracht are three points and three goals ahead of TSG Hoffenheim (7th place).

IIn #SGERBL preview, we take a look at our last away game of this season!

Red Bulls out to extend their run

  • RBL unbeaten in 11
We're in good shape, without defeat since March and have won seven in that time. Our striker Benjamin Sesko is in particularly good form, scoring in each of his last six games and playing a crucial role in our renewed qualification for the Champions League.

  • Frankfurt with one win from the last 10
SGE, on the other hand, has only left the field as winners once since Matchday 26. They drew 1-1 draw with Borussia Mönchengladbach most recently.

  • In the Hinrunde...
...Eintracht beat us 1-0, which was the first time the visiting team had won this match. In the previous game, we achieved one of the club's greatest successes with the DFB Cup triumph in Berlin.

Personnel situation before #SGERBL

  • Almost all Frankfurt players are available.
Visiting coach Dino Toppmöller can rely on almost all of his players, with only the long-term injured Sasa Kalajdzic and Mehdi Loune (both torn cruciate ligaments) certain to be out. There are question marks behind Eric Dina-Ebimbe (calf problems) - most recently the equaliser in Mönchengladbach - and Philipp Max (cold).

  • Rode comeback on his farewell tour
Eintracht captain Sebastian Rode is set for his final professional game - and his return to the field after a knee operation that resulted in his absence since February. The 33-year-old will likely provide emotional moments in the stadium as a substitute in the final phase..

Absentees

  • Sasa Kalajdzic (torn cruciate ligament)
  • Mehdi Loune (torn cruciate ligament)

Coach and system

In Dino Toppmöller we're meeting an an old acquaintance. In the 2020/21 season, the now 43-year-old worked at Cottaweg as Julian Nagelsmann's assistant coach. With today's Germany head coach, he then moved to FC Bayern Munich and in the summer of 2023 as head coach to Die Adler.

However, Toppmöller was already a head coach before his involvement in Frankfurt: including in Luxembourg between 2016 and 2019, where he led F91 Dudelange to three championships and two cup victories.
