On Loan: Janis Blaswich moves from RB Leipzig to Salzburg

A one-year loan move to FC Red Bull Salzburg | 64 Matches for RBL | DFB-Cup Winner and Supercup Winner 2023

Goalkeeper Janis Blaswich  will play the 2024/25 Season in Austria as he is loaned out to FC Red Bull Salzburg for one year.

The 33 year-old arrived in the summer of 2022 from Heracles Almelo (Netherlands) to Leipzig and played on 64 occasions for the Red Bulls, including 11 UEFA Champions League matches.

After a particularly long injury of Péter Gulácsi, Blaswich took over the duties of starting goalkeeper, being part of the squad that won both the DFB Cup (2:0 against Eintracht Frankfurt) and the Supercup (3:0 against FC Bayern München).

Thanks to his strong performances, Janis Blaswich was called up to the German National Team for the first time in November, 2023. He started in the games against Austria and Turkey.

Good luck and all the best in Salzburg, Janis!

Sporting Director Rouven Schröder:

  • "Janis Blaswich had an outstanding performance with RB Leipzig and was always ready to serve his club well. He started delivering solid outings right from the start when Peter Gulacsi tore his cruciate ligament. Janis was one of the reasons behind our success we had in the 2022/23 season.

Along with his sporting abilities, he also is a top person. He proved it to us when he lost his starting role, which was a big disappointment, of course. Regardless of that, he was able to handle the situation professionally.

A goalkeeper with his qualities needs to play on a regular basis and that is why we're happy to have found a good arrangement for all parties involved with his loan to Salzburg, which will also allow him to play internationally.“

Janis Blaswich:

  • "It was a great time at RB Leipzig and it was also lots of fun to pursue the titles along with the team and the fans. Naturally, winning the DFB Cup in 2023 was the highest point of my time here and will remain so. Me and my family felt very happy in Leipzig, I'm really thankful for that.

I'm crossing my fingers for the club's next season and wish the team and fans a great and successful tournament season. I'm delighted with my new challenge in Salzburg and I want to be as successful as possible while in Austria.“
