Šeško and Forsberg help RBL secure 2-1 win over Young Boys

Victory in final UCL group game | Second-half madness with three goals in six minutes | RB Leipzig had already booked spot in last 16

Another UCL victory!

RB Leipzig defeated Young Boys 2-1 in their final Champions League group game. RBL had already booked their spot in the last 16 of this year's competition by securing second place in group G heading into the match.

It looked like Leipzig had taken an early lead in the seventh minute, with Benjamin Šeško slotting the ball coolly past Young Boys keeper David von Ballmoos. However, the goal was disallowed after the Slovenian was shown to be standing in an offside position when he received the ball from Emil Forsberg. Péter Gulácsi, who started in place of Janis Blaswich and captained RB Leipzig, did well to keep the scores level in the 21st minute, as he pulled off a fantastic reflex save to deny Cheik Niasse from close range.

The action picked up in the second half! Benjamin Šeško gave RBL the breakthrough (51’), before Ebrima Colley got the equaliser just two minutes later (53’). Then, Emil Forsberg restored our lead in the 56th minute. There were chances for both sides at the death, first for Timo Werner (88’) and then for Joel Monteiro (90’+3).
