FC Bayern have claimed the first trophy of the season. DFB-Pokal winners RB Leipzig were defeated 5-3 by Bundesliga champions FC Bayern Munich in a goal fest in front of 47,069 fans at a sold-out Red Bull Arena.
The Red Bulls began the game well but an early individual error saw Domenico Tedesco’s side behind early on after a strike from Jamal Musiala (14’). Sadio Mané (31’) and Benjamin Pavard (45’) built on the Bayern lead and sent the Bundesliga champions into the break with a three-goal lead.
Leipzig never let their heads drop and found a way back into the goal when Marcel Halstenberg headed in a corner (59’). Serge Gnabry responded for the visitors in the 66th minute.
