“I’m back with my second family”

Joško is back! After a fantastic World Cup campaign with Croatia, Joško Gvardiol was given a rest period and has now joined team training at the club’s training camp in Abu Dhabi. In an interview with the club, Joško looks back at the World Cup and shares his thoughts on the tournament and sharing his thoughts on representing his country on the world stage.

... Being back with the team:

• "It feels amazing to be back with my second family and I’m really looking forward to the first session back with them."

… The World Cup:

• "The tournament was really good. We managed to finish third and I can be really proud of myself and my team. The success is for everyone here at RB Leipzig. Croatia achieved something amazing four years ago and we thought it would be impossible to do it again, but everything is possible in football.
  
  I wasn’t paying attention on the talk about me winning the Best Young Player at the tournament. I was just focused on achieving as much as possible and we managed to do well."

… Returning to training:

• "I’ve had enough time off now and I’m happy to be back. It was really important for me to clear my head after the World Cup and get back to full fitness. The gym work is completely different to the work done out on the pitch here in the training camp, so I’m looking forward to getting going again with the team."
