“It was just pure goosebumps!”

Emil Forsberg, Jesse Marsch and Dominik Szoboszlai on the 4-0 home opener victory against VfB Stuttgart

Emil Forsberg

"That was just pure goosebumps. We've had to wait so long to play in front of our fans and absolutely wanted to give them a victory tonight. We were really up for it and the fans' support made us even better. The fans were so loud that it felt like 45,000. We did a lot right tonight and deservedly won 4-0. It was a strong performance from the whole team. We had a great week behind us, trained strongly and it's just very enjoyable. Everything came together tonight so we can be very pleased on the whole."

Jesse Marsch

"It was a superb reaction to the loss in Mainz. We were very aggressive with and without the ball. It really was a great performance from us. But it's still the beginning of the season and we have to stay humble. Emil Forsberg and Dominik Szoboszlai are both great players and great guys. After the Mainz game, we talked a lot about what we could improve. We needed more energy and commitment. Szobo and Emil said, 'no problem, we’ll take that on together'. Emil is a super role model. It was good that he was our captain today. He played very well and Szobo is a young player with a lot of potential. I know him very well. He works hard every day and gives a lot to the group.

It's crazy to think about the last time so many fans were allowed here. We wanted to demonstrate our passion and our football today, because our fans love our football. It was very aggressive and intense today. We won a lot of balls and we were good in our transitions. It was a really good performance, but we still have a lot to do. I said before the game that Emil and André are my penalty takers. The fact that Emil gave the ball to André so he could score a goal to help himself settle in better here says everything about Emil and our team. With this mentality in the group, our possibilities are very, very big."

Dominik Szoboszlai

"Today was my first game here in the Red Bull Arena in front of our fans. They didn't know me before and now I'm very happy with the performance and especially about the three points. The crowd gave us a tremendous energy with their support and I hope that at least as many can be there for the upcoming games. For the first goal, I thought about crossing but there was nobody in the area, and luckily I decided to shoot; for the second, I got a bit lucky."
