"The team are still hungry!"

HEAD COACH DOMENICO TEDESCO ON...
...HAVING A FULL SQUAD TO CHOOSE FROM:
"You can do your best to manage the workload in training, and the doctors and physiotherapists can do their best as well, but sometimes you just have bad luck as a player. For example, take Emil Forsberg against Arminia Bielefeld, when he slipped on the grass with no one around him. You can’t do anything to prevent that.
Overall, the efforts of the coaching staff to ensure that we manage the workload and rotate the squad do have a long-term positive effect, which we’re happy about.”
...FREIBURG'S STRENGTH ON SET PIECES:
“Freiburg are extremely dangerous, and not only from set pieces. They work hard and are deservedly in the top of the table. They have established themselves as a tough side to beat over the last years and have become a really solid side.
The club is extremely well managed in all areas, whether it be in terms of transfers, scouting, their philosophy, tactics or set pieces.
We do spend a few more minutes analysing Freiburg’s set pieces than we do with some other clubs. They have lots to choose from in their bag of tricks and have been excellent in this regard for a number of years.”
...CHRISTIAN STREICH:
“I try to learn from a wide variety of coaches. It’s important to look at what other coaches are doing and to compare them. When you talk about SC Freiburg, there’s no avoiding Christian Streich. That speaks to both what the club and coach have accomplished. The fact that they have been working together for more than 10 years demonstrates the continuity and clear plan they have.
Due to their excellent work, the club can now focus on different goals. It’s impressive what they’ve achieved. They have managed to become a top team in the Bundesliga.
At the end of the day, it’s just another Bundesliga game. If it were the final day of the season, then I would say that it’s like a final of sorts. But, it’s just as important as the game against Bochum last weekend and the one against Greuther Fürth next weekend. We still have a lot of work to do, and we haven’t achieved anything yet. The team are still hungry for more, which is important. We will be able to satiate that a little with three points on Saturday.”
We still have a lot of work to do, and we haven’t achieved anything yet. The team are still hungry for more, which is important.
Squad update:
Joško Gvardiol suffered bruising on his back during the DFB-Pokal game against Hannover 96 and is still undergoing treatment. It is unclear if he will be available this weekend.
