International Break: Benjamin Sesko Can't Stop Scoring!

All matches in detail | 4 goals in two games for Sesko | Poulsen scored a stunning overhead kick goal

The first international break of the new season

Three official matches came and went, now it's turn for the international sides to go back to action. 17 of our players will be joining their national teams during this break.

Update: Amadou Haidara

Amadou Haidara suffered a concussion in the match against Leverkusen. He will therefore stay in Leipzig and will not travel to the Mali national team.

David Raum & Benjamin Henrichs (Germany)

    Goals: 1-0 Füllkrug (27'), 2-0 Musiala (58'), 3-0 Wirtz (66'), 4-0 Pavlovic (77'), 5-0 Havertz (81', PK)

David Raum started against Hungary in Germany's first international fixture of the season. Led by a relentless Jamal Musiala, who scored one goal and assisted three more, the side managed by Julian Nagelsmann had no contest against a tame visitor. A resounding 5-0 was the reward of a good outing for Germany. Benny Henrichs was subbed in on the 70th minute for his RBL teammate.

Christoph Baumgartner & Nicolas Seiwald (Austria)

  • Austria – Slovenia| 1-1

Goals: 1-0 Benjamin Sesko (16', PK), 1-1 Konrad Laimer (28')

In the match between Red Bull players, Benjamin Sesko found the back of the net from the penalty spot to put Slovenia ahead. But a mere 12 minutes afterwards, our former midfielder Konrad Laimer was the author of the 1-1 goal for the side coached by former RBL manager, Ralf Rangnick. It would end up in a draw for Slovenians and Austrians. Nicolas Seiwald played the entire match for Austria, while Christoph Baumgartner kam nicht zum Einsatz.

  • Norway – Austria| 2-1

    Goals: 1-0 Myhre (9'), 1-1 Sabitzer (37'), 2-1 Haaland (83')

Baumi and Nici, who were in the starting XI, couldn't find their first Nations League win. Norway's star striker, Erling Haaland, delivered close to the end of the game to deprive the Austrian side of the draw.

Benjamin Sesko (Slovenia)

Goals: 1-0 Benjamin Sesko (16', PK), 1-1 Konrad Laimer (28')

Seskgoal can't help himself and keeps delivering goals! Our attacker almost singlehandedly gave his Slovenian national team the win with his hattrick. Benji now has 17 goals for his national team.

Peter Gulacsi & Willi Orban (Hunhary)

  • Germany – Hungary | 5-0

    Goals: 1-0 Füllkrug (27'), 2-0 Musiala (58'), 3-0 Wirtz (66'), 4-0 Pavlovic (77'), 5-0 Havertz (81', PK)

Willi Orban and Peter Gulacsi had to withstand a stellar performance from Germany and RB Leipzig teammates David Raum and Benny Henrichs. The hosts didn't mince around and cornered the Magyars throughout a match in which former Red Bull Dominik Szoboszlai (FC Liverpool) captained his side. Pete Gulacsi had a busy night, thanks to a productive German attack.

  • France – Belgium | 2-0

    Goals: 1-0 Kolo Muani (29'), 2-0 Dembele (57')

Lois Openda started once again with Domenico Tedesco's Belgian side. Our number 11 couldn't avoid the defeat for the Red Devils, even if he tried his best. That included an occasion that could have sent Belgium ahead in the 18th minute, had it not been for France's keep, Maignan.

Yussuf Poulsen (Denmark)

  • Denmark – Switzerland | 2-0

    Goals: 1-0 Dorgu (82'), 2-0 Højbjerg (90'+2')

Denmark took longer than they had wished to get their win against a Swiss side that would finish the match with 9 men. Interim coach Lars Knudsen found a solution to the deadlock by subbing in Patrick Dorgu (US Lecce) for the 1-0. The Helvetics lost Gladbach player Nico Elvedi with a straight red card on the 52nd minute, with Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Granit Xhaka also joining the ranks of suspended players after receiving a second booking towards the end of the match. Our Yussi Poulsen was left on the bench.

    Goals: 1-0 Grönbaek (36'), 2-0 Yussuf Poulsen (61')

A second good outing for Denmark in the Nations League. Our RBL Legend Yussuf Poulsen even added a stunner of a goal in the second match with an overhead kick that stole the show for the 2-0. Yussi also had to do with the red-white Scandinavian side's goal. A perfect assist to Albert Grönbaek (Stade Rennes) opened the score.

Antonio Nusa (Norway)

  • Norway – Kazakhstan | 0-0

    Goals: -

Our own Antonio Musa was part of the starting attack formation for Noway, along Erling Haaland and former RBL striker Alexander Sörloth (Atlético Madrid). In spite of playing the best football, the Scandinavian side would have to settle for a scoreless draw.

  • Norway – Austria | 2-1

An early goal and a late one gave the Norwegian home side the edge over an Austria that has yet to win its first Nations League game this time around. Antonio Nusa was subbed in after halftime.
