Antonio Nusa will play for RBL wearing number 7 on his back and will join team training straight away. The attacking player is used to playing on both wings, but can also play down the center behind the strikers.

Antonio fits great with RB Leipzig's DNA
Marcel Schäfer, Sport Managing Director

Marcel Schäfer, Sport Managing Director

  • "Antonio fits perfectly with RB Leipzig's DNA. He is young, has potential for development, is very ambitious and willing to learn. Also, he has already played around a hundred professional matches and has left his mark on both FC Brugge and the Norwegian National Team.

This makes him one of the best players of his generation in Europe, without a doubt. Antonio really wanted to join us and the Bundesliga this summer in order to take the next steps together. Recent years provide enough examples showing that RB Leipzig is exactly the right club for this. Antonio's transfer was well prepared, so we were able to finalize it quickly in the course of the past few days."

Rouven Schröder, Sporting Director

  • "We had Antonio on our radar for several years and are very happy that we were able to make the transfer happen now. He is a dynamic, fast and technically well-trained player who can play both as a number ten and on either wing. Antonio also has good gameplay vision and a strong finish, he's difficult to defend against in direct duels, plays well with both feet and is extremely versatile. He fits perfectly into our existing attack and with the football we want to play. He is also very clear and well developed for his young age. We are looking forward to Antonio and the start of the new season together very much!"

Attack-minded, talented, fast, counterpressing. This describes my talents best.
Antonio Nusa on RB Leipzig's footballing philosophy

Antonio Nusa

  • "I'm just incredibly proud to be at RB Leipzig and in the Bundesliga now. The club has shown me a clear vision and a clear path, which convinced me. It's of course a big step for me, but I'm ready for it.

RB Leipzig has become one of Europe's top clubs and, above all, one of the top destinations for young players. When I played here with Brugge in 2021, I was very impressed by the training center and the academy, and of course I also saw the stadium. It's simply an outstanding feeling knowing I'll be playing there in front of over 45,000 fans in just a few days.

For me, now what's most important is to integrate myself into the team quickly. But I'm joining a very cool team with the perfect mix of young and experienced players and, above all, a clear playing philosophy: offensive, strong, fast, counterpressing. That fits my qualities perfectly and I'm really looking forward to playing with players like Xavi, Lois Openda and Benjamin Sesko, who have already shown what they can do in their first season in Leipzig. I'm ready to get started!”

Antonio Nusa's career

From Langhus, to Stabæk, Brugge... and now Leipzig

Antonio Nusa took his first steps as a footballer at Langhus IL before moving to the youth division of Stabæk Fotball. At Stabæk, he received his first professional contract on May 6, 2021, at just 16 years of age, and made his professional debut in the Eliteserien (Norwegian First Division) three weeks later on May 30, 2021. After 13 professional appearances (three goals), the attacking player moved to FC Brugge (Belgium) in the summer of August 2021.

At Brugge, the right-footer played a total of 86 games for the first team, scored seven goals and provided six assists. In 2022, he won the Belgian championship with FC Brugge and won the Belgian Super Cup in 2023. Last season, the technically gifted player won his second championship with the Blue and Black. He played 46 games across all competitions last season (four goals, four assists) and was one of the team's top performers.

Since the new season has already started in Belgium, Antonio Nusa has played four competitive matches for Brugge. In the 2-3 defeat in Genk last weekend, he provided the assist for the short-lived 1-0 advantage.

Nusa's National Team journey: Goal-rich prospect and First Team player

At 17 years, four months and 27 days, Antonio Nusa is currently the third youngest goalscorer in UEFA Champions League history. He scored for the first time in the UCL on 13 September, 2022 for Brugge in a 4-0 win against FC Porto.

In the previous season, he qualified for the UEFA Conference League with Brugge and made it to the semi-finals.

He went through all of Norway's youth national teams and finally made his debut in the senior national team on September 7, 2023 (capping seven international appearances so far). In a 6-0 win against Jordan, Antonio Nusa was in the starting line-up, scored the 1-0 and assisted the 3-0.

Coming back to Cottaweg

The RBL Training Center on Cottaweg is not new territory for him. On September 28, 2021, he visited along with his Brugge team for the UEFA Youth League in a match-up against RB Leipzig. The game was a clear victory for Brugge, scoring a 4-1 tally, with the same result in the return match. Nusa was a starting player on both occasions.
