Benjamin Sesko on his extension:

  • “We have a team with great potential and a balanced mix of young and experienced players. I just really want to take the next steps together with this team. We have already achieved a lot in my first season and have often shown what quality and outstanding football we can bring to the pitch. But there is a lot more that can be done and that is now our common goal.”

Departure: Dennis Borkowski

After loans to 1. FC Nürnberg (2020-2022) and Dynamo Dresden (2023/24), Dennis Borkwoski is moving permanently to third division club FC Ingolstadt. Dennis came to the Red Bulls in 2014 and spent six years at the RB Leipzig Football Academy. He made his debut in the Bundesliga on matchday 34 of the 2019/20 season in a 2-1 away win against FC Augsburg. Two more games were to follow.

We wish you all the best for your future journey, Dennis!

Frederik Jäkel is again loaned to SV Elversberg.

Extension and Loan: Frederik Jäkel

Frederik Jäkel (23) played for SV Elversberg last season, with the defender playing 18 games in the 2023/24 season for the strong second division team (1 goal). But a torn cruciate ligament suffered in February 2024 prevented further playing time.

Frederik will also be loaned out to SV Elversberg next season. In addition, RB Leipzig has extended the defensive player's contract, which expires in 2025, by one year until 2026.

Transfer: Angelino

After Angelino (27) moved to AS Roma on loan in the winter, the Spanish left-back has now joined the Serie A club permanently. In the second half of the season, the 27-year-old played in 16 matches and was in the starting eleven 14 times.

Angelino initially joined the Red Bulls on loan in January 2020 before being signed permanently by Manchester City in the summer of 2021. The two-time Spain U21 international made 100 appearances for RB Leipzig, scoring 12 goals and providing assists for 29 goals.

Loan: Timo Werner

Timo Werner (28) will stay in the Premier League for another season with Tottenham Hotspur in 2024/25. The 28-year-old was already on loan to Spurs in the second half of last season, scoring two goals and assisting three more across 14 competitive games (10 starts).

At the end of April, however, the striker was injured in the home game against Arsenal and was ruled out for the rest of the season.

Contract extension: Peter Gulacsi

Goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi (34) will remain at Leipzig beyond the summer of 2025. Both sides agreed on an early contract extension for another year until 2026. This means that the 34-year-old will be in the RBL goal for the next two seasons.

The Hungary international, who will be taking part in the European Championship in Germany in a few weeks, moved from Red Bull Salzburg to the trade fair city in the summer of 2015. Since then, our No.1 has played 302 competitive games for the Red Bulls. He won the DFB Cup with RBL in 2022 and 2023.

Contract extension: Benjamin Henrichs

RB Leipzig and Benjamin Henrichs (27) have agreed on an early contract extension by three years until 2028.

The Red Bulls can thus tie down the next key player for the long term. The 27-year-old has been playing for Leipzig since the summer of 2020 and has scored eight goals and assisted 16 in his 142 RBL competitive matches to date. This week, the Germany international (14 caps) was also called up for Germany's Euro 2024 squad.

Departure: Tim Schreiber

Tim Schreiber is moving to SG Dynamo after 10 years with the Red Bulls.

The 22-year-old came to Cottaweg from SC Borea Dresden in the summer of 2014 and progressed through Leipzig's youth department. The 6'3" goalkeeper then gained match practice at Halleschen FC (25 games) and Holstein Kiel (11 games).

During his last loan spell in Saarbrücken, Schreiber played a strong season (24 games) and stood out with great saves, especially in the DFB Cup. The Freital native reached the semi-finals of the cup competition with the third division team this year.

Contract extension: Amadou Haidara

Leipzig and Amadou Haidara extend their contract, which currently runs until summer 2025, by a further year until 2026
