The three most spectacular games at the season finale in the Red Bull Arena

One last home game.

At least for this season. The Red Bulls are ready to play for you once again this season. For the home game on Saturday against Werder Bremen (3:30 p.m.) we want to let our “I feel good” goal anthem play  a few more times.

We don't know the storyline against Werder yet. It's quite possible that there will be plenty of goals again. Even in added time.

Because that was often the case in some memorable home games at the season finale.

RB Leipzig has its sights set on a season record - will Werder soon be playing in Europe?

4:5 after 4:2 against Bayern: Robben decides it in the 95th minute

On the 33rd matchday of our very first Bundesliga season, FC Bayern Munich was a guest in the trade fair city. The team of then coach Carlo Ancelotti was already confirmed as champions, RB Leipzig still needed a point for second place.

And it got off to a lively start, it was supposed to be a crazy exchange of blows! Marcel Sabitzer nodded to take the lead in the second minute, Robert Lewandowski equalized with a penalty (17'). In the 29th minute there was another penalty, Timo Werner converted after a foul by Xabi Alonso to make it 2-1 at halftime.

As soon as the 42,558 fans in the sold-out Red Bull Arena were back in their seats, Yussuf Poulsen added one(49'). But FCB came close, Thiago scored with a header after an hour. Five minutes later the bell rang again in the Munich box - Timo Werner scored his brace. 4:2!

By now we had reached the 84th minute. And then things got dramatic. Robert Lewandowski scored before David Alaba curled a free kick into the top corner in stoppage time (90'+1'). Late compensation, how bitter. But that wasn't the end of the story. In the 95th minute, Arjen Robben made a solo run across half the pitch. The Dutchman was unstoppable and scored to make it 4:5. The final score on this crazy afternoon.

On May 8, 2022, the Red Bulls won 4-0 against FC Augsburg on matchday 33 and thus jumped to a Champions League place.

4:0 win against Augsburg – RBL regains a Champions League place

In the 2021/22 season, the Red Bulls were in the middle of a fight for the UCL with two game days before the end of the season. In the long-running duel with SC Freiburg (55 points), the Messestadt team (54 points) absolutely needed the points for fourth place. The decisive factor here: the 32nd match day against FC Augsburg.

Not much happened at first, but our boys worked to secure the ever-important lead. And that happened before the half-time whistle. The ball landed at Andre Silva's feet, who scored from distance to take the lead (40'). That was the end of the knot.

Christopher Nkunku made the perfect start after the restart in the 48th minute after a fine combination between Nordi Mukiele and Emil Forsberg, nine minutes later Christo was there again after a Mukiele pass. With the 4-0 by Emil Forsberg (penalty, 65') the three points at home were sealed.

Looking to Freiburg: SCF lost 4-1 at home against Union Berlin the day before, so RB Leipzig was able to jump to fourth place after the win against Augsburg. There was still one point missing for the ticket to the Champions League and Willi Orban secured this one point to equalize 1-1 in stoppage time on match day 34 at Arminia Bielefeld.

Emil Forsberg celebrates his converted penalty to make it 4:0.

Goal to make it 3-2: Yussuf Poulsen put the Red Bulls back in the lead against Schalke 04 on match day 34 of the 22/23 season.

Assist Örjan Nyland, goal Christopher Nkunku: Christo became the top scorer in stoppage time

For the first time ever in the Bundesliga, RBL played a home game on match day 34 last season and thus ended a season in their own living room. The opponent was FC Schalke 04. The Knappen urgently needed points in order to stay in the league.

Our team wanted to gain some self-confidence before the upcoming cup final. Konrad Laimer scored for the first time in his very last home game for RBL (10'), Christopher Nkunku made it 2-0 (19'). But: S04 brought themselves back with a header from Marcin Kaminski (28'). The guests became more courageous and after 49 minutes it was actually 2-2 after an own goal from Willi Orban.

But coach Marco Rose's team stepped up their game again and were there in the final phase. Yussuf Poulsen only had to hold out his foot after Nkunku's assist – 3-2 in the 82nd minute. But we still had one goal: the top scorer for Christo. He tried it from all positions, but the ball no longer wanted to cross the line.

Well into stoppage time it finally worked. After a tee shot from Örjan Nyland, Christopher Nkunku snatched the crown with his 16th goal of the season with a lob in the last few meters - together with Niklas Füllkrug from Bremen at the time. Then it was over and Schalke's relegation was sealed.

With 16 goals this season, Christopher Nkunku secured himself the top scorer in the Bundesliga in stoppage time.
