“We still have two options this season” | Post-Match Quotes

Coach Marco Rose, Peter Gulacsi and Sporting Director Rouven Schröder comment after the 1:1 draw in Hoffenheim

Coach Marco Rose was annoyed about the late equaliser while down a man.

Marco Rose

  • "We wanted to get three points and only got one because of the late equaliser. That makes it very annoying, but we have to live with it. If we had played a few attacks better today, we could have created more chances.

Despite this, we missed a few opportunities after taking the 1-0 lead and didn't allow much ourselves. Then we were down a man and tried to defend passionately until the end. Then we conceded a goal just before the end.

We have played better, no question about it. But I don't blame my boys. We still have two chances this season and we want to finish third."

Goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi in an interview on DAZN after the game.

Peter Gulacsi

  • "Hoffenheim did very well in the second half and we didn't. We have to be honest about that. The result is fine. We had big plans and wanted to jump to third place for at least one night. We missed that.

But it's always difficult to defend with ten men until the end. Before the yellow-red card, that wasn't enough from us today. Even though the first half was still OK. We made a few technical errors and lost tackles. It was sloppy today. We have to make sure that the last two games look completely different."

Sporting Director Rouven Schröder can now plan for the Champions League.

Rouven Schröder

  • "In the end, it was a deserved draw. But it's always a shame when the equalizer comes so late when we're outnumbered. But you have to look at the overall situation. We've won seven of our last nine games. That speaks for the team.

We tried everything today too, but we weren't as clean and didn't get into the flow of our game. Despite that, we still have a chance of finishing third. We're still in the flow and are looking forward to the last home game in the Red Bull Arena against Werder Bremen next week. We'll give it our all there.

By qualifying for the Champions League we have planning security, which is a clear statement to our coveted players. We want to play a good role again next season and position ourselves as best as possible."
