Marco Rose ärgert sich über die Niederlage gegen Madrid

"We had enough chances" | Post-match reactions

RBL coach Marco Rose, Dani Olmo, Peter Gulacsi, Xaver Schlager and David Raum comment after the narrow 0-1 defeat against Real Madrid

All the reactions to the game against Real Madrid here

Marco Rose

  • "We started the game well and scored a goal that should have counted. That's tough at this level, but we still stuck with it and did our jobs. We had chances, but then fell behind with a dream goal. All in all, we had our chances and in the end we ended up with a 0-1 result, which was bitter overall because we deserved more.

Our approach will not change. Our performances aren't translating into results at the moment, but we shouldn't fall into the role of victim now, and instead take advantage of our opportunities again. We can take a lot of positive things with us."

David Raum

  • "We played a good home game, but we should have taken advantage of our chances. I think we even scored a goal, I have no idea why it didn't count. We had enough chances. Real Madrid can make a lot out of a little. We can turn 0-1 around, but we have to go one better in the second leg."

Peter Gulacsi called into action against Madrid

Peter Gulacsi

  • "It was an open game, especially in the second half. We had our chances. In the end, a great shot decides the game. That's very bitter for us, because we weren't worse than Madrid. Our performance was good, we only wish for a better result.

We're going to Madrid and will try to play just as well. If we score the first goal with a bit of luck, then everything will be open again."

Xaver Schlager in action against Real Madrid

Xaver Schlager

  • "Football is a results-based sport and that's where we lost. If you look past that, we did a lot of things right. We played forward, had chances to score and didn't allow much. But at the moment it's just the case that our opponents are doing a lot with a little.

The fact that the goal in the second minute didn't count is typical of the moment we're in. If we made it 1-0, I think Real would really have problems. We had really good chances, but you don't always get what you want. The starting situation before the second leg is still okay. If we score a goal, we'll be back in it!"

Dani Olmo in an interview after the game against Madrid

Dani Olmo

  • "We are not happy with the result because we had several chances to score but didn't. Brahim Diaz has a lot of quality and he takes his chance. Real Madrid have one of the best teams in Europe, against such an opponent you have to take advantage of your opportunities."
