Marco Rose started the same team that began the 3-0 win over FC Augsburg.
Christoph Baumgartner was available to play again after his muscular problems and was brought on in the 80th minute.
“Baumi”, Castello Jr. and Xavi Simons all made their UCL debuts.
The experienced Yussuf Poulsen made his 30th appearance in the Champions League.
Kevin Kampl captained Leipzig in the Champions League for the second time after leading the team in another away win against Club Brugge in November 2021 (5-0).
Kampl, Xavi, Emil Forsberg and Mohamed Simakan were all booked.

"Mo" Simakan scored his first goal of the season and the second UCL goal of his career. He also bagged RBL’s first Champions League goal of the season back in 2022. It was the fifth time our number 2 has scored for the club and the 15th goal he’s been involved in as an RBL player.
It was also Xaver Schlager's first goal of the season and his first in Europe’s premier club competition.
Benjamin Šeško netted his third goal for RBL, having scored a brace against Union in the Bundesliga. It was also the first time he’s scored in the Champions League.
The 3-1 win means that Leipzig’s all-time UCL goal tally is now 69.

David Raum put in the corner that Mo Simakan headed in, earning him his third assist of the season, with the other two coming in the Bundesliga.
Kevin Kampl provided the assist for Xaver Schlager’s goal – his first of the season.
Benjamin Henrichs superbly set up the goal that made it 3-1 – he’s now assisted a goal in the Supercup, the Bundesliga, and the Champions League this term.

RBL have extended their winning run in all competitions to three.
We’ve kicked off our Champions League campaign with a win after losing our opening games in 2021 and 2022.
RBL have inflicted a home defeat on Young Boys for the first time in over a year. The last team the Swiss side lost to on home soil was RSC Anderlecht on 18th August 2022.
