More on the home win
Marco Rose
- “Kudos to the boys, they generally played well today. We had a great first half. We were dominant after Augsburg’s early chance and scored some beautiful goals. We even had the chance to make it 4-0.
We spoke about a few things at the break, since we knew that Augsburg would change something. They went all in at the start of the second half. There were a lot of long balls and they started to switch the play more. It meant we had to do a lot of work off the ball and weren’t on the ball much. We weren’t lively enough and we lost control as a result. There are lots of aspects of that second half performance that we can work on.
However, we saw that we can play good football even when we line up without Willi and Dani. We’ve got a very young centre-back partnership and Castello Jr. played brilliantly today.”
Xavi
- "I enjoy spending every day with the lads and the coaches, and feel right at home here already, which is the most important thing. I haven’t had much time to settle in, but I’m doing well and showing what I can do.
We saw how the game ended between Bayern and Leverkusen. Ultimately though, the important thing is that we perform well ourselves. We’re taking things step-by-step.
I will continue to work hard and will approach each day with lots of energy. The game in Bern will be played on Astroturf, so it will be a difficult one. We’re excited for the Champions League.”
Emil Forsberg
- "The first half was really good with three lovely goals. We controlled the game well and put in a great performance. We just said at half time that we needed to stay alert.
We let them create far too many chances in the second half, but ultimately we got a 3-0 win. We have lost two important players to injury in Willi and Dani, which obviously hurts. We’ve got a great squad though and every player wants to impress. The mood in the dressing room is good.
I grew up playing on Astroturf, like we will in Bern this coming week. The match will be a lot quicker. We will recover from today’s game and try to take all three points again on Tuesday.”
