Kevin Kampl extends until 2026!

Kampl inks two-year contract extension | At RB Leipzig since 2017

The journey continues!

Kevin Kampl (33) and RB Leipzig have agreed to extend his contract, which was set to expire in 2024, by two additional years until June 2026.

The attacker has been at RBL since 2017, winning three titles during his time in Leipzig. Now, our number 44 is looking forward to continuing to don the RBL colours.

We can't wait for what's still to come, Kevko!

  • "Kevin Kampl is a key player in our squad. Not only due to his talents as a footballer and his style of play, but also with regard to his role within the team and the entire club. Kevin embodies what it means to be RB Leipzig like no other and fully identifies with the club.

As a result, it was a logical decision for both parties to seek to extend his contract until 2026, and to continue the work that Kevin has played a key role in over the last six years. We are extremely pleased that Kevko will continue to play for us in the coming years.

He's a special person and uses his experience to help the team and the younger members of our squad. Additionally, he is a leader out on the pitch and his passion for the club, the city and our fans is an essential connector for us all."

  • "I'm incredibly happy and proud that we will continue to work together for two additional years. What I've been able to experience here since 2017 is unique. I've said it again and again: RB Leipzig is my club, the city feels like home to me and my family and I just love being here. We have an exciting team and as one of the more experienced members of the squad, I really enjoy getting to lead the boys and getting to grow together.

We brought our first pieces of silverware to Leipzig in 2022 and 2023. It was incredible to see how euphoric everyone was over those achievements, and we want to give our fans and ourselves more of those moments. We still have a lot we want to achieve and I will continue to give it everything in order to continuing our success story."

Kevin Kampl at RB Leipzig

Kevin Kampl's story at RB Leipzig began on 31st August 2017, when he completed a move from Bayer 04 Leverkusen on the final day of the summer transfer window.

A week later, he made his debut for RBL, setting up Timo Werner's second goal in a 2-0 win away at Hamburger SV on 8th September.

Five days on from that, he was part of our starting XI for the first Champions League game in our history (1-1 vs. AS Monaco on 13th September).

Kevin quickly became a key player for us and captained the side for the first time on 20th September 2018, in an Europa League game against Salzburg.

An ankle injury kept him out of action from September 2019 to March 2020, but he returned stronger than ever and helped RBL reach the DFB-Pokal final in each of the last three seasons. After losing the final in 2019 and 2021, Kevin was able to celebrate lifting the trophy in 2022 and 2023

Along with Willi Orban, Lukas Klostermann, Emil Forsberg, Konrad Laimer, Amadou Haidara and Marcel Halstenberg, KK44 is one of seven players to have featured in all four of the club’s finals.

His only ever red card actually came in the 2022 Pokal final – surprisingly after he was already taken off! He was shown his second yellow card whilst on the bench.

Kampl has scored nine goals so far for Leipzig, with eight of them coming in the Bundesliga and the other in a Europa League qualifier. His first goal for the club came on 9th December 2017 in a 2-2 draw in Mainz.

Kevin has featured in 11 of the 13 competitive games this season, starting 10 of these matches and captaining the side in five of them. He scored in the 5-1 win over Stuttgart and set up Xaver Schlager’s goal in the 3-1 victory in Bern in the Champions League.

He has played 220 times for RB Leipzig overall, the eighth-most appearances of any player in the club’s history.

During his time at RBL, Kevko has had two kids and married his long-term partner Vanessa in 2021.
