UEFA approves standing areas in European competition
From now on, maximum capacity for European matches | No change of seats for season tickets holders in Sector B | Initial test for one season
Great news for all football fans! The UEFA Executive Committee has approved a proposal to allow standing sections in European competition again for the new season. Standing sections had been banned for European and international fixtures since 1998. The new regulation will initially come into force for matches in Germany, England and France and always in accordance with the respective national regulations. It gives us the chance of a completely full Red Bull Arena!
In concrete terms, the approval means that for the first time, all 14,161 of the Red Bull Arena’s standing places can be used during European games and the ground can operate at its maximum capacity of 47,069. For fans with standing-only season tickets in Sector B, there is no need to change seats. Get ready for yet more fantastic atmospheres at the Red Bulls’ international games!
The ruling will initially be valid for one season. An extension to a longer time period and other countries will be considered based on the success of this season’s test run.
