Tyler Adams moves to the Premier League to sign for Leeds United
Came to Leipzig in 2019 from New York | 101 competitive games for RBL | Key player for the USMNT
Another transfer has been completed. Tyler Adams has left RB Leipzig after three and a half years to sign for Premier League club Leeds United with immediate effect. The midfielder arrived in Leipzig in January 2019 from New York Red Bulls and played 101 times in all competitions for RBL (2 goals, 4 assists).
Tyler made his debut for RB Leipzig on 27th January 2019 under Ralf Rangnick in a 4-0 away win in Düsseldorf. Aged just 19 back then, he went straight into the starting XI and was part of the side that finished third and made the DFB-Pokal final that season.
The American’s biggest moment in a Leipzig shirt came when he scored the winning goal in a 2-1 win against Atletico Madrid in the quarterfinals of the UEFA Champions League the following season.
His first and only Bundesliga goal came in a 3-2 defeat at 1. FSV Mainz 05 on 23rd January 2021. Our number 14 was part of the squad that made it to the semi-finals of the UEFA Europa League, finished in the top four of the Bundesliga again and won the DFB-Pokal on 21st May 2022 last season. That was his third Pokal final with Leipzig and was the perfect way to end his time with the club.
During his time at Leipzig, Adams matured into a key player for the US national team. He became their youngest ever captain in September 2021 and won the CONCACAF Nations League title with them in June 2021.
Tyler will join up with former RBL head coach Jesse Marsch in Leeds, as well as ex-Bundesliga players Robin Koch (formerly of SC Freiburg) and Marc Roca (formerly of FC Bayern).
Thanks for everything, Tyler! We wish you all the best for your future and we’ll see each other again!
