“You could see that we’re on the same level as Bayern”
RBL head coach Marco Rose and players Marcel Halstenberg, Willi Orbán and Xaver Schlager react to the 1-1 draw against FC Bayern Munich
Marco Rose:
- "We were too messy in the first half. We knew there were going to be moments where we would have to withstand Bayern. We weren't quick enough on the counter, but that was always going to be hard without Timo and Christo starting. In the second half we fought harder and had more intensity in our game. We reacted well. But you could see that we were lacking some of our rhythm after two months without a competitive game. So the result is a fair one."

Willi Orbán:
- "We played into their hands a little bit with our own play. We weren’t accurate enough when it came to the final or penultimate pass. It’s a shame because we should have created more good chances for ourselves. All in all, we have the feeling that there was more in it for us today. You could see in the second half that we were on the same level as Bayern and maybe were even a touch better. Of course we’ve have liked to win because that would have narrowed the gap in the league. But on the whole the point is fair given our performance and we’re happy with the point."
Marcel Halstenberg:
- "We deserved the point. It’s great to play Bayern and avoid defeat, so we’ve started well. It was a real game of football and the game could have swung in either direction. If Konni had struck the ball better right at the end, we could have maybe even won 2-1. It was a good performance from the team but we can still reach another level. We have a lot of ambitions heading into the next game."
Xaver Schlager:
- "I’m not pleased; I wanted to win the game. Our first half wasn’t good and it was fair that we were behind at half time. The goal we conceded was my fault. I have to learn from that and I have to do better. In the second half we had a lot of chances and our play was cleaner. We were well in the game. At the end of the day, 1-1 is okay, but not pleasing. There was more in it for us during the second half. We know how good we are and what we're capable of. We can beat any opponent."
