"We can achieve great things together!"
Head coach Marco Rose, Willi Orbán, Timo Werner, Dominik Szoboszlai and Xaver Schlager give their thoughts after the 3-0 home win over Borussia Dortmund.
Marco Rose:
- "It's nice to score three goals and keep a clean sheet. We were very present from the opening minute and although it wasn't perfect, we were intense, confident and used the atmosphere of our stadium.
Leipzig is my home and I identify very strongly with this area. I feel really good here, I like the people a lot and you could see that together we can achieve great things here!
I'm pleased with how we played. A key to our win was definitely playing with a lot of tempo and demonstrating our quality. Simply put, the players in our squad are really good footballers!"
Willi Orbán:
- "It’s important that we’re looking ahead positively now. We tried a few tactical changes with the new head coach. The early lead played into our hands today and we stayed in control of the game. I was in a good position for my goal and I headed it into a good position.
We have a lot of quality in our squad and we have a lot of potential. It's about bringing that onto the pitch. We’re coming up against a fantastic side next week in Real Madrid. It was important to get a positive result to head to Spain with."
Timo Werner:
- "It feels good to be back to winning ways. We’ve not had many victories this season and above all the way that we played against such a good team was not only impressive, but also showed what our team is capable off and what we can deliver."
Dominik Szoboszlai:
- "You could see that we were intense and fought for each other. When we play together like that as a team we can score three goals. Marco has managed to create a fantastic mentality within the squad in just two days. I know him from my time in Salzburg. We had both good and bad times together, but one thing is certain: If he hadn't been there in my career, I wouldn't be where I am now."
Xaver Schlager:
- "A lot went right today and we’re really happy to have got the win. We got the early opener through a set piece and then Domi’s wonder goal put us further ahead. We have to carry on working. Marco Rose likes to be very aggressive against the ball and it suits my style of play. I had a successful time under him at youth level."
