Liverpool win 5-0 in friendly
Final game ahead of Supercup | Liverpool visit the Red Bull Arena | Naby Keïta and Ibrahima Konaté start for the Reds
RB Leipzig were defeated 5-0 by Liverpool FC in their final game of pre-season. Mohamed Salah scored the opener for the visitors, who started the game with former Leipzig players Naby Keïta and Ibrahima Konaté in the side. The Egyptian forward picked the ball up in the penalty area and slotted home in the 8th minute.
Domenico Tedesco’s team were able to defend well against the English side for the rest of the half, but struggled to make their presence felt going forwards. That changed at the end of the half: Angeliño fired just over from outside the area (41’), before Christopher Nkunku was denied by the Liverpool goalkeeper from a good position (45’).
Liverpool’s summer signing Darwin Núñez was introduced at the break and took centre stage in the second half, scoring all four of his side’s goals. The Uruguayan opened his tally from the penalty spot (48’), before netting shortly after in the 51st minute. His hat-trick came in the 68th minute when he stabbed home from close range, before rounding off his side’s win with a strike from the edge of the area in the final minute.
