"An enjoyable game for the fans"
Head coach Marco Rose, captain Willi Orbán and Lukas Klostermann on the 0-0 draw against Köln
Here's what Marco Rose and the players had to say on RB Leipzig's goalless draw away against Köln on Bundesliga matchday 19.
Marco Rose:
- "Even though there were no goals, it was probably quite an enjoyable 0-0 for the fans. Both teams did their bit. We started the game well and had the plan to neutralise the threat of Köln’s high press. We were able to do that for long stretches of the game.
We could and maybe should have scored two goals in the first half. That obviously would have helped us. We didn’t have as much impact in the final third in the second half, also due to the facts that we were lacking a bit of energy. But compliment to my team on how they dealt with Köln’s approach and also compliment to Baumi and his players on a good performance."

Willi Orbán:
- "It was the better kind of 0-0 game. We had one or two clear chances in the first half that we should have taken. It was a very intense game with a lot of duels and both teams invested a lot. Every game is a challenge, especially against Köln with their twelfth man at their stadium. But we were well prepared and knew what to expect.
At the end of the day, we just needed to make better use of our chances. Unfortunately we didn’t do that and therefore we’re not fully satisfied. The positive is that we kept a clean sheet. We want to continue improving our game and have areas in which we can be better. We want to go again next week."
Lukas Klostermann:
- "We didn’t have a lot of chances today, but we had three or four really big ones. Köln are a side who run a lot and defend with a lot of aggression. That makes it hard to create chances, but I think we did quite well in that regard today.
Obviously I’d have liked to get the three points but on the whole, we have to live with the point. We definitely have things we can improve. What matters to us the most is always the next game. That’s the attitude we take."
