"We had a lot of catching up to do after losing the first two"
RBL are into second place in Group F after the 2-0 win over Celtic | The reaction to the big win at Celtic Park
Timo Werner:
- “There were phases in the game where we were good, and there were phases where they were good. We got off pretty lightly when Celtic were putting us under pressure, but we found the breakthroughs we needed at the end. It was an insane crowd tonight. In the end, I don’t think our victory was undeserved. Scoring a goal in such an atmosphere is always amazing but André deserves a lot of credit for the goal. We had a lot of catching up to do after losing the first two Champions League games and we’ve put things right since then. It’s now on to Warsaw to play Shakhtar and we’ll probably be fighting for second place.”

Marco Rose:
- “It was an important win but a deserved win. We played against a tough opponent in a great stadium. We started the game well but we didn’t really pose much of a threat. At the very beginning we didn’t let Celtic press us but after 20 minutes we invited them into the game. We were, however, able to get through the period of pressure. We were dominant in the second half, we had a couple of moments where the luck was on our side but we came up against a great goalkeeper and a side with lots of quality. We were also able to bring on a lot of quality from the bench. It was important for us to stay positive and to use the energy in the stadium to our advantage. We had some good phases in the game but we now need to show our quality over 90 minutes. After a long period without an away win, we should be encouraged by our performance here against Celtic. We’ve got three wins and a draw from our last four games so things are heading in the right direction.”
David Raum:
- “It’s never going to be easy when you come to Celtic Park. However, we had good phases in the game and that also goes for the first half. It’s not possible to shut your opponents out completely. We turned the screw in the second half and we created the chances that we needed. We defended well after we went ahead and that allowed us to get the second. We can be happy with the overall performance. Two goals and a clean sheet in Glasgow gives us something to build on.”
