"Compliments to Babelsberg"
Head coach Jesse Marsch and Dominik Szoboszlai on the 1-0 DFB-Pokal win over SV Babelsberg
JESSE MARSCH:
- "Last week, we suffered a narrow defeat to PSG with Messi and Mbappe, this week we won by a narrow margin against a fourth-tier Regionalliga side – that’s football! It wasn't an easy game for us. We were in control and could have calmed the game down with another goal or two. We were lacking that little bit in front of goal. We’re happy to have advanced to the next round of a competition that means a lot to us.
The first half was tight. We tried to change our system for the second half. Compliments to SV Babelsberg - they never gave up and were prepared to take risks. That kept the game exciting until the end. I was really enthusiastic about the atmosphere here in Babelsberg. The home fans as well as the RBL fans - I think these experiences that we can create in football are brilliant.
Hugo Novoa played really, really well today. He understood his role, was good out of possession and overall was one of our best performers."
DOMINIK SZOBOSZLAI:
- "My aim was to give my best today. Respect to Babelsberg. It was not easy here and you could see that they really wanted to win. However, we played our game and played well especially in the first half. In the second half we maybe needed a little bit more tempo and we were a little unlucky with our finishing. At the end of the day it doesn’t matter whether it was 1-0 or 4-0. The important thing is that we advanced to the next round."
