"I'm proud of the team"
Head coach Domenico Tedesco, Willi Orbán, Konrad Laimer and Emil Forsberg give their reaction after RB Leipzig's 3-1 away win against Real Sociedad
Domenico Tedesco:
- "After the 2-2 in the first leg, it wasn't going to be easy here with this atmosphere for any team. The fans really spurred Real Sociedad on. I'm proud of the team for withstanding this pressure. We stayed patient; we’ve come a bit more mature.
It's not a given the way everyone makes their own contribution to success. You have to give the players and the entire coaching team a huge compliment. It was a really good team performance."
Willi Orbán:
- "It was a good performance from the first minute. We should have scored more goals in the first half. After half time, Real had to come and press higher and that meant they gave up more space for us. We could have countered them even better. At the end of the day, you have to say that it was a mature performance to be able to overcome the task here.
The opening goal is always an important one. I don't know how often I follow in a shot at a penalty. Today I could reward the team, so it was a good feeling.
You can see what beautiful stadiums you can play at in the Europa League. We are happy to have progressed and are looking forward to the next round."
Konrad Laimer:
- "We carried out a lot of what we set out to. If we had taken our big chances earlier on, it could have gone even better. But then we got our goal after the break and were 2-0 up in the second half. After that, we allowed them pretty much nothing but conceded a silly goal from a set piece. It became a bit hectic after that and the opposition found a new energy as a result of their fans. But we stayed calm, got the third goal, and in the end deservedly progressed.
Night games in Europe are what you play football for. It's always a special thing. We put our mark on the game - we can carry on like that. Now we'll regenerate; we go again in three days. In Bochum there will be just as little given to us as there was here. Everyone needs to put in another good performance. If not, it’ll be difficult. Other teams have seen it there too – it’s not an easy game in Bochum."
Emil Forsberg:
- "We had several good chances in the first glad. Then we went 2-0 up but conceded soon after and had to fight again. We could breathe again after our third goal. I’m pleased to have scored and I’m pleased for the whole club.
I came to Leipzig seven years ago and now we're playing Champions League and Europa League football. We've had a fantastic development. I'm proud to be a part of this club.
There are some good teams left in the competition. It will be tough, but we believe in ourselves. We have a team with a lot of potential. We have to work hard and stay humble, but I’m certain that we can achieve great things!"
