"Right now, it’s just emptiness and disappointment"
Oliver Mintzlaff and Domenico Tedesco speak on the 3-1 defeat to Glasgow Rangers.
Oliver Mintzlaff:
- "It wasn’t enough. It wasn’t good enough for a semi-final performance. First of all, we would like to congratulate Rangers and Eintracht Frankfurt. Our performance was not up to standard against what was an aggressive and clinical Rangers side. In our past two Bundesliga games, we didn’t deliver the performance that was needed of us.
We’re still a young club and have been playing in the Bundesliga for six years. Of course you want to advance to the next round and play better than we did today. Of course we want to win something in Berlin. It will be out third final in the past four years.
I’m disappointed, just like everyone at the club and our fans. We knew that it was going to be a difficult task. Right now, it’s just emptiness and disappointment.
We have two more important games in the Bundesliga where we can hopefully qualify for the Champions League. We’ll look for the small positives that there are."
Domenico Tedesco:
- "We conceded the goals too softly. Recently, we’ve just been conceding too easily at the back. The first goal came from nothing and the third goal was too soft as well. After our goal we were well in the game and had chances to make it 2-2 on the night.
The atmosphere played its part – it was the best atmosphere that I’ve ever experienced. But that’s only a legitimate explanation for the first ten minutes. We had enough chances, whether it was Konni or Dani who shot over with his left.
We find it hard against physical sides – we saw that against Union. We did a good job against Atalanta, especially in the second leg. But today, the opposition was the winner in a lot of the 50-50 challenges."
