Despite so many chances, no goals.
RB Leipzig played out a 0-0 draw at home to Eintracht Frankfurt on Sunday afternoon, despite a huge amount of chances. With 45 points on the board now, RBL remain in the top four places and the Champions League positions.
The first half saw Domenico Tedesco’s side create numerous chances to take the lead, including two shots which hit the woodwork, the first from Mo Simakan after 26 minutes, and then later through Konrad Laimer (41’). The Eagles’ defensive work did not get any easier in the second half, with chances from both Laimer (62’) and substitute Yussuf Poulsen (81’) going to waste. It was an afternoon where the ball just did not want to go in, and the final whistle blew with the 43,058 fans in attendance at the Red Bull Arena heading home from a 0-0 draw.

First half highlights:
TEAM NEWS:
Kevin Kampl and Dani Olmo, who both missed out with injuries against Fürth, were back in the starting XI at home. Domenico Tedesco had to do without Lukas Klostermann due to an adductor problem.
A MINUTE'S SILENCE:
Ahead of kick-off, there was a minute's silence in memory of two icons of German football. Rest in peace, Dr. h.c. Egidius Braun and Jürgen Grabowski.
9th MINUTE:
Dani Olmo runs towards the Frankfurt goal, but looks to play the ball to Christopher Nkunku instead of shooting himself, the French international’s effort deflecting over.
12th MINUTE:
Frankfurt’s Jesper Lindstrøm latches onto a misplaced pass from Pete Gulácsi and, instead of shooting, plays the ball to Rafael Borré. The pass was blocked by the defence to prevent any danger.
20th MINUTE:
Konrad Laimer sieht nach zu hartem Einsteigen gegen Borré den Gelben Karton.
22nd MINUTE:
Kevin Kampl wins the ball well in midfield and crosses into Andre Silva from the left, who heads towards goal, but Martin Hinteregger is there to clear the ball off the line. Close!
26th MINUTE:
A bit of pin-ball in the Frankfurt penalty area sees the ball land at the feet of Mohamed Simakan, who hammers a shot towards goal from 25 yards. Eintracht ‘keeper Kevin Trapp reacts quickly and gets down to parry the shot onto the post.
36th MINUTE:
Lindstrøm plays the ball dangerously in from the left, and Angeliño takes a second before clearing. His clearance hits Benny Henrichs and cannons back over the crossbar – a dangerous moment.
41st MINUTE:
Laimer takes on a shot from 20 yards which hammers the crossbar: a second shot against the woodwork for RB Leipzig.
45th+1 MINUTE:
The ball is in the Frankfurt net, but the celebrations are cut short by the linesman’s flag. Goalscorer Nkunku, who dinked the ball over Trapp, was offside when played in by Angeliño. Half time, and somehow the game remains goalless.
Second half highlights:
46th MINUTE:
RBL with a lightning-fast start and another attempt on the Frankfurt goal. The ball ends up at Olmo’s feet, who takes a touch and volleys at goal. The attempt is not powerful enough, though, and Trapp holds onto it.
48th MINUTE:
Nkunku looks to be one-on-one after being played through by Silva. He finds Olmo after being pressured by the Frankfurt defence, but overhits the pass and the Spanish international cannot get a good shot off.
52nd MINUTE:
Yet more RBL attacking intent. The ball comes to Henrichs on the right, and his cross cannot be converted by anyone, Nkunku included. It remains 0-0.
62nd MINUTE:
Laimer has the next chance, created through some great pressing. A 1-2 with Nkunku sees Konni played through and in the clear, but decides not to lob Trapp as he did for his goal against Fürth, and instead opts for power, which Trapp deals with admirably.
78th MINUTE:
Nkunku with yet another attempt, which does not have enough on it to beat Trapp.
81st MINUTE:
That has to go in! Substitute Yussuf Poulsen is in and rounds the ‘keeper, but he is on his weaker left foot and cannot find the right moment to shoot. It’s yet another big chance which goes begging.
FULL TIME:
It’s a shot ratio of 15-5 in favour of RBL, but the final whistle is sounded with no goals for either side.
