"It does us good to win!"
Head coach Domenico Tedesco, goalscorer Yussuf Poulsen and man of the match Kevin Kampl react to RB Leipzig's 2-0 DFB-Pokal win over Hansa Rostock
Domenico Tedesco:
- "We achieved what we set out to do - reach the next round - so I'm pleased. A lot today was okay, but there was room for improvement.
Dani Olmo is a very important player for us. He's a very creative player. He's understandably not at 100% yet - that will take a few more weeks. It's important that he gets game time and if he scores, that's even better.
With the team that we have, we have the chance to win every game. That goes for this weekend's game as well. But first we have to regenerate; Wolfsburg didn't have a cup game."
Yussuf Poulsen:
- "We're really pleased! Our only aim was to reach the next round and that's what we did. It's always tough when the opposition sit deep and make the spaces tight. Rostock did that well. We only had a few chances, but we took them. We felt to have controlled the whole game and we pounced when it mattered.
Nothing is handed to you in the cup. We've seen that big teams can also lose against smaller teams. Our aim at the start of the season was to win something this season and that's what we're absolutely working towards!"
Kevin Kampl:
- "We’re now among the best eight teams in the DFB-Pokal, which we’re really happy about. We dominated the game, had a lot of shots on goal and didn’t allow much. We stayed calm and took the chances that we got. I think that’s what makes a dominant team.
Going ahead so early did us good. We didn’t have a lot of clear chances, but that’s difficult against a team who are well positioned at the back.
We’ve started the second half of the season really well; that was our third win in a row. You can see that we want more. It simply does us good to win. We have another home game in the Bundesliga now against Wolfsburg. We shouldn’t and will not underestimate that game."
