RB Leipzig are through to the quarter-finals of the DFB-Pokal! The Red Bulls defeated second-division side Hansa Rostock 2-0 (1-0) in what was at times a close battle.
The ball was in the net after just six minutes. Christopher Nkunku found Lukas Klostermann in space on the right of the penalty area and the full back crossed towards the six-yard box. His ball was met by Yussuf Poulsen at the far post, who headed home to give RBL a 1-0 lead.
The visitors managed to deal with Leipzig's pressure a little better in the second half and also created some chances of their own to equalise, the best of which came from Nico Neidhart in the 51st minute, but his effort went just wide of the far post. At the other end, Nkunku hit a well struck free kick that was dipping under the bar before Rostock’s goalkeeper Kolke was able to push over for a corner (67’).
Rostock were still in the tie until late on, until Dani Olmo introduced. Seconds after coming on, the Spaniard rounded off the win with his first touch of the game – a low shot across goal after a great assist from Nkunku (82’).
