"We absolutely wanted the three points!"
André Silva, Jesse Marsch, Joško Gvardiol and Péter Gulácsi on the 3-0 win over VfL Bochum
Jesse Marsch
- "It was a real fight today and not an easy game. An early goal would have made the game much easier for us. I can’t comment on the VAR decision because I’ve not seen the incident, but I have the feeling that VAR decisions are often going against us at the moment. I told the team to stay strong. At the moment, it's maybe not a bad thing to have to fight for everything until the end. The way our game went was almost perfect. We've learnt a lot from the past few months and showed our development today.
André Silva is a great person and a great footballer. I only have positive things to say about him. Unfortunately, his start here didn’t go the way he had planned. But he always believed in himself and we also believe in him. He got a goal and an assist today - it was a very important moment for him and for us."
André Silva
- "Of course, I'm very happy with my goal and above all the fact that I could help the team. It was a bit easier after the first goal as Bochum were forced to loosen up more, which gave us more space and security for our play. It was important that we remained focused and aware today. We absolutely wanted these three points!"
Joško Gvardiol
- "It was a tough game against a side who played defensively. We had to be alert at all times and had enough patience. The win was deserved. It was an important victory for us and the fans - we'll go into the break feeling good."
Péter Gulácsi
- "We had a lot of chances in the first half that we unfortunately didn't take. Our play became a little hectic and too risky. There were some chances that we could have played out better, but overall, we didn't allow much and had a good defence as a basis to our game. The changes had a really good impact, we created a lot of good chances and in the end deservedly won."
