RB Leipzig players on international duty
Tyler Adams' USA draw 1-1 with El Salvador | Germany tear European champions Italy apart | Orbán and Szoboszlai romp to famous win in England with Hungary | 14 RBL players on international duty
RB Leipzig are DFB-Pokal winners! After that incredible final our lads deserve some rest, however 14 of them have been called up for international duty. During the next few weeks, our players will be involved in various competitions including the Nations League and Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Benjamin Henrichs and Lukas Klostermann (Germany)
Benjamin Henrichs and Lukas Klostermann are with the German national team for their tough Nations League fixtures.
UEFA Nations League
- 4th June: Italy - Germany | 1-1
Germany drew 1-1 with European champions Italy on the first matchday. Benjamin Henrichs was handed a start by Hansi Flick. Lukas Klostermann didn't feature.
- 7th June: Germany - England | 1-1
Henrichs, Klostermann and Germany picked up another draw, this time with Klosti starting the game and Benny an unused sub.
- 11th June: Hungary - Germany | 1-1
It was the third 1-1 draw in three Nations League matches for Hansi Flick's side. Henrichs and Klostermann were in the squad but didn't feature.
- 14th June: Germany - Italy | 5-2
Hansi Flick's side showed their class on Tuesday evening and finally picked up three points. Klosti played for the full 90 minutes, whereas Henrichs watched the goal fest from the bench.
Péter Gulácsi, Willi Orban and Dominik Szoboszlai (Hungary)
Hungary have three RBL players in their squad for the Nations League. Péter Gulácsi, Willi Orbán and Dominik Szoboszlai will play four games, including a clash with Germany.
UEFA Nations League
- 4th June: Hungary - England | 1-0
Hungary defeated England 1-0 on matchday 1. Dominik Szoboszlai scored a penalty in the 66th minute to secure the win. Willi Orban kept England captain Harry Kane quiet and Péte recorded a clean sheet.
- 7th June: Italy - Hungary | 2-1
Domi and Willi played the whole game for Hungary, while Péte was an unused substitute as Hungary were narrowly defeated by Italy.
- 11th June: Hungary - Germany | 1-1
Hungary made a good account of themselves against Germany. Péte, Willi and Domi were in the starting XI and their side got off to a great start and took the lead after just six minutes. Gladbach's Jonas Hofmann got Germany back into the game just three minutes later and the game remained 1-1.
- 14th June: England - Hungary | 0-4
Yes, you have read that correctly. Orbán and Szoboszlai featured from the start as Hungary demolished England on their own patch. Goalkeeper Gulácsi missed out due to suspension.
Yussuf Poulsen (Denmark)
Our striker is also in his nation's squad for four Nations League games.
UEFA Nations League
- 3rd June: France - Denmark | 1-2
Denmark started their Nations League campaign with a win away to France. Yussuf Poulsen didn't play. Christopher Nkunku came on for the second half.
- 6th June: Austria - Denmark | 1-2
Yussi started up front and came off early in the second half. Denmark got a late winner against Konni Laimer's Austria to earn their second straight win.
- 10th June: Denmark - Croatia | 0-1
Our striker came on in the 83rd minute in this Nations League defeat. Just seven minutes later, however, things went from bad to worse for Yussuf as he had to be substituted after tearing a muscle in his left adductor. He is expected to be out for six weeks.
- 13th June: Denmark - Austria | 2-0
Yussi missed the Austria game due to injury. His side, however, were not deterred by his absence and they comfortably took the three points as they did just a week earlier.
André Silva (Portugal)
Silva, now the record Portuguese goalscorer in Bundesliga history with 51 goals, will be hoping to be part of the second Portugal side to win the Nations League after they lifted the inaugural trophy back in 2019. Their four matches include a duel with neighbours Spain.

- 2nd June: Spain - Portugal | 1-1
André Silva's Portugal and Dani Olmo's Spain faced off in their Nations League opener. The two players missed each other on the field though, as just a minute after Silva was substituted in the 62nd minute, Olmo came onto the field for the Spaniards.
The next direct meeting between Silva and Olmo will be on 27th September.
- 5th June: Portugal - Switzerland | 4-0
Portugal were comfortable winners against Switzerland. Our striker André Silva didn't feature.
- 9th June: Portugal - Czech Republic | 2-0
Portugal picked up another win to take control of Group 2. André was not involved in the win.
- 12th June: Switzerland - Portugal | 1-0
Portugal fell to defeat in a tight game in Switzerland. André Silva featured from the start, but his side were unable to make the most of their chances.
Tyler Adams (USA)
Our versatile American has two friendlies with his nation before two CONCACAF Nations League fixtures.
Friendlies
- 2nd June: USA - Morocco | 3-0
It was a comfortable evening for Tyler Adams' USA against Morocco. The 23-year-old started the game and only came off once the Americans were 3-0 up.
- 5th June: USA - Uruguay | 0-0
Tyler played the full 90 minutes in a goalless draw.
CONCACAF Nations League
- 11th June: USA - Grenada | 5-0
Tyler Adams wasn't in the squad for the USA's big win over Grenada. Jesús Ferreira impressed with his four goals.
- 15th June: El Salvador - USA | 1-1
The USA scored in injury time to rescue a point in what was a tight game against El Salvador. Both sides had a man sent off and it was 10 vs. 10 for the last 20 minutes.
Konrad Laimer (Austria)
Konrad Laimer and Austria could also face some RBL players. During this round of fixtures, Konni could play Denmark twice (Yussi), France (Christo) and Croatia (Joško).

- 3rd June: Croatia - Austria | 0-3
Ralf Rangnick won his first game in charge 3-0. Konrad Laimer played the full game.
- 6th June: Austria - Denmark | 1-2
Konni also played the full 90 minutes against Denmark and Yussi Poulsen. The away team won it late on.
- 10th June: Austria - France | 1-1
Our number 27 was in the starting XI for Austria's clash with France. Laimer got the assist for Austria's opener after a trademark run down the flank. France managed to equalise late in the game and both sides had to settle for a point.
- 13th June: Denmark - Austria | 2-0
Austria fell to a 2-0 defeat in the return fixture against Denmark. Laimer started on the bench but was brought on for the second half.
Dani Olmo (Spain)
Our Spaniard, Dani Olmo, faced off against André Silva and Portugal.

- 2nd June: Spain - Portugal | 1-1
The Battle of the Iberians. Olmo's Spain came up against Silva's Portugal on Thursday evening, with the game ending in a 1-1 draw. The two Red Bulls didn't meet directly on the pitch, however, as Olmo came onto the field just one minute after Silva had been taken off.
- 5th June: Czech Republic - Spain | 2-2
Another draw for Spain. Dani Olmo played 61 minutes as his side equalised in injury time.
- 9th June: Switzerland - Spain | 0-1
Dani Olmo came off the bench in the 62nd minute to help Spain to a narrow win.
- 12th June: Spain - Czech Republic | 2-0
Spain went top of the group after a comfortable 2-0 win over the Czech Republic. Olmo played the full 90 minutes.
Emil Forsberg (Sweden)
Emil will be looking to score more important goals as he plays in the Nations League with Sweden. He, of course, got the winner late on against Union Berlin in the DFB-Pokal recently.

- 2nd June: Slovenia - Sweden | 0-2
The super Swede captained his national team in their 2-0 win over Slovenia. Forsberg opened the scoring with a penalty in the 39th minute.
- 5th June: Sweden - Norway | 1-2
Sweden lost to Norway on matchday two of the Nations League. Erling Haaland scored twice to secure the win. Anthony Elanga got a consolation for the hosts. Our number 10 was replaced by the goalscorer in the 66th minute.
- 9th June: Sweden - Serbia | 0-1
Sweden suffered a setback in the Nations League, with Forsberg being brought on in the 77th minute but unable to turn the game around.
- 12th June: Norway - Sweden | 3-2
The Swedes, captained by Forsberg, fell to a 3-2 defeat in Norway. Our penalty expert scored for Sweden, but the home side, spurred on by Erling Haaland's brilliance, were too strong on the night.
Amadou Haidara (Mali)
Amadou Haidara and Mali have played two Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Africa Cup of Nations qualification
- 4th June: Mali - Congo | 4-0
A convincing win for Mali. Amadou Haidara came off the bench.
- 9th June: South Sudan - Mali | 1-3
Mali enjoyed a fantastic late win! Doudou Haidara was brought off just after his side equalised to make it 1-1 in the 58th minute, but a little later one of his teammates was shown a red card. Down a player, Mali found the back of the net twice in injury time to claim the win – after making it 2-1 in the 93rd minute, they doubled their lead in the 95th.
HUGO NOVOA (Spain U21s)
Hugo Novoa and Spain are looking to book their place at the U21 European Championships.
U21 EURO qualifiers
- 3rd June: Northern Ireland U21s - Spain U21s | 0-6
Hugo Novoa wasn't used.
- 7th June: Spain U21s - Malta U21s | 7-1
Novoa was brought on in the 67th minute with the scores at 4-0.
Christopher Nkunku (France)
Last but not least, Christo Nkunku - recently named as the Bundesliga's Player of the Season - is in the France squad.

- 3rd June: France - Denmark | 1-2
Christo Nkunku came on in the second half and impressed during his 45 minutes, despite France's defeat.
- 6th June: Croatia - France | 1-1
Nkunku played the full game in Split as the two sides shared the points.
- 10th June: Austria - France | 1-1
Our goal machine was not in the starting XI for this encounter at the Ernst-Happel-Stadion. The striker, however, came on in the 79th minute and played a decisive role in France's equaliser. Christo played a fantastic through ball to Kylian Mbappé, who slotted the ball home to put France level.
- 13th June: France - Croatia | 0-1
France fell to a disappointing defeat at home to Croatia. Our number 18 started the game and was in a front three with Benzema and Mbappé. Bayern's Coman came on for Christo in the 72nd minute.
