"Football isn't always fair"
Head coach Jesse Marsch, Konrad Laimer and André Silva react to the 3-2 Champions League away defeat to Paris Saint-Germain
Jesse Marsch:
- "We played well and were in control for the majority of the game. After taking the lead we were in a good position but made a bad mistake. Messi and Mbappe don't need much time or space to score.
There are a lot of positives to take away. We were brave and played well out of possession. We created a lot of chances and were also dangerous at set pieces. However, we’ve got our backs against the wall here, it will be difficult. We need to make fewer mistakes in the upcoming games."
Konrad Laimer:
- "We were perhaps a little naïve or wild in one or two situations. Despite that, we can be proud of our performance and not being worse than an opposition like PSG. In my eyes, we were even the better side. Football sometimes isn’t fair. Unfortunately, there were some chances that we didn’t take. PSG were clinical, which is normal at this level.
To have no points after three games makes it difficult in the group, but we’ve shown that we can hold our own against Europe's best. We want to take the maximum points total from our remaining fixtures in order to be playing in Europe after winter.."
André Silva:
- "We worked a lot, so it’s a tough defeat. In my opinion, it was a foul on me in the build up to the opening goal. I don’t think we deserved to lose.
My job is to work. The only way is to work hard. I always give my best for the team and try to help."
