“These are the games that you live for as a footballer!”
The fight for 3rd place | RB Leipzig face Bayer 04 Leverkusen on matchday 30 | Domenico Tedesco on the game, plus Europa League semi-final opponents, Rangers
A massive Bundesliga clash!
Just hours after a huge win allowed us to qualify for the semi-finals of the Europa League, the focus once again has to shift back to domestic affairs. Sunday evening (19:30 CEST) sees RB Leipzig face a massive game in the context of the Champions League places, as they travel to Bayer 04 Leverkusen – the two teams are separated by just one point.
Before the clash, RBL’s head coach Domenico Tedesco spoke to the press about his side’s upcoming opponents in both league and cup, as they face Rangers in the UEL semi-finals.
Domenico Tedesco on...
... Bayer 04 Leverkusen:
“There’s no time to rest this month.
On the one hand, everything is very intense, of course. But on the other, these are the games that you live for as a footballer. When you’re still in with a chance of winning two competitions and doing well in the league, it’s fantastic.
We’re looking forward to the match in Leverkusen, even if we know that it’s once again going to be a really tough clash. Bayer 04 are an absolute top team in this league. The fact that we could go third with a win is not important for me; we’re just 100% focused on the task at hand.”
... Rangers:
“They are going to be two crazy games, and we’re all excited to play them, but first things first, we’re focusing on Leverkusen.
Ibrox is a special stadium for any footballer – the atmosphere is so special. When you get into a semi-final, you always want to go one step further and get to the final, but both sides will have that exact aim. They’re a really good team; we’ve all seen that over the course of this competition. They knocked Borussia Dortmund out over two legs, and when they can knock out teams of that calibre, you get a sense of the quality Rangers have.”
