"We were definitely ready for the game today!"
Hear from Jesse Marsch, Emil Forberg and Willi Orban following the 4-0 win against SV Sandhausen in the DFB-Pokal
Jesse Marsch
"The boys were definitely ready for the game today. They delivered a really good performance. We kept a clean sheet and, after taking the lead, we continued to apply pressure and showed a good mentality. We have to carry on working on ourselves and improve the details. That's important for our game and to help us achieve our goals. Today was only our first game, but it was a good performance!
It's fantastic to have had our fans back with us! Football without fans is really very different. The way they support us is like no other and gives us even more motivation. It's great to see the passion and support, both from the team and the fans. I'm really looking forward to the first home game!
We're focused on ourselves, on how we train each day and our team spirit. Our goal is to use every game to generate clarity and cohesion on the pitch, especially in those key situations. Looking ahead, the game against Mainz will likely be very different. They had a strong end to last season under Bo Svensson. We are preparing ourselves for a tough opponent."
Emil Forsberg
"It was a good game from us today. Of course, there are things that we have to work on, but we played well on the whole.
It means a lot to us to have the fans supporting us. They are our 12th man and it's important that they are back now. We saw today the significance they have to us. We won 4-0, and we did it for them."
Willi Orban
"We didn't really know how far we had come as a team before today's game. We're coming off an intense training camp and have made several changes compared to last season. That's why it was good to win today and build our self-confidence.
The entire team has a great mentality, everyone is helping out, everyone is motivated. We showed today what we can achieve, but I think we still have a bit of work to do."
