Marcel Sabitzer:
"It was six fantastic years at RB Leipzig. From the beginning it was a huge advernture from me to move to the 2. Bundesliga. From then, a huge success story developed and I’m very proud to have helped to write it. I was able to develop perfectly here, alongside the club, became a leading member of the squad and even became captain.
Thanks go to my team, the whole coaching team, the club staff and especially the fans. Leipzig will always have a special meaning to me as a club and city.
Now it’s time for the next step of my career, which I want to take at FC Bayern Munich. Bayern is one of the best clubs in the world. The chance to play at such a club has always been a huge dream of mine, and I can now fulfil that dream.“
We thank Marcel for his efforts and passion during his six years at RB Leipzig.
Oliver Mintzlaff,
CEO, RB Leipzig:
"Marcel Sabitzer came to Leipzig in 2015 and was a fantastic addition from the very beginning. Marcel, like the club itself, then quickly took the next steps in his development and matured into one of the best midfielders in the Bundesliga at RB Leipzig.
For him, the chance arose to take on a new challenge after a long time with us. After the official enquiry from FC Bayern, Marcel asked for permission to move to Munich. The club then, together with the coaching team, took the decision to allow Marcel to complete the move with our long-term squad planning and the fact that we are well-positioned in terms of personnel in mind. We would like to thank Marcel for his efforts and passion during his six years at RB Leipzig."
