"A crazy game!"
Head coach Jesse Marsch, Emil Forsberg and Péter Gulácsi react to the 1-1 draw with 1. FC Köln
Jesse Marsch
- "It definitely wasn't a boring 1-1 - it was a crazy game with a lot of VAR decisions. Despite the draw, I'm proud of my team for the way that they fought and gave their all until the end.
Given our current situation, we have to fight for every centimetre on the pitch. Péter Gulácsi had a really good game, especially towards the end of the game, even if we also had a bit of luck on our side. We put in a good performance today, all things considered. We had a lot of chances and Köln had a great goalkeeper in Timo Horn. We'll learn from games like this and get stronger and find our rhythm!"
EMIL FORSBERG
- "Firstly, well done to 1. FC Köln, who played really well today. We made a few mistakes at the start of the game, but showed some good resistance and didn't concede in the first half - that was important. We showed mentality after Köln took the lead and wanted to make up for going behind. We should have put more of our chances away. The fans definitely had a good game of football to watch today.
We have to continue working hard and I’m confident that we’ll start to pick up more points.
Of course we want more, but I’m sure that that will come. We showed a good mentality and passion on the pitch today. We know what we can do and believe in ourselves."
Péter Gulácsi
- "It’s not easy to come back from 1-0 down here in Cologne, but we showed mentality and managed to get the equaliser. We’ll take some positives from our reaction, but of course we’d have liked to win.
We recognised that Köln play an intense game and they showed that today. We wanted to play a good game and after Köln’s goal, we did so. I think the first half was an even one, and we had to be more precise in our finishing. After equalising, we had a lot of good chances to win the game. Timo Horn had a really good game, that has to be said. Despite that, we should have scored two goals from the many chances we had in the second half."
