Further positive Corona tests at RB Leipzig
Orban, Poulsen, Simakan, Novoa, Gößling and a member of the backroom staff test positive after a round of PCR tests | All other tests on Friday negative
As part of the extensive Corona tests at RB Leipzig, the whole team, plus the coaches and backroom staff were given PCR tests on Thursday after returning from the away game at Club Brugge. 61 people were tested in total.
The results on Friday showed that there are six more Corona cases.
The people in question are Willi Orban (in isolation since Wednesday afternoon), Yussuf Poulsen, Hugo Novoa, goalkeeping coach Frederik Gößling (this trio all travelled to Brugge), Mohamed Simakan (didn‘t travel due to a cold) and a member of the backroom staff, who also didn’t make the trip to Belgium.
All six people are now self-isolating – the other 55 tests all came back negative. Previously, head coach Jesse Marsch, Péter Gulácsi and another member of the backroom staff all tested positive at the start of the week and remain in quarantine.
RB Leipzig remain in regular contact with the local health authority and will continue to carry out tests on a regular basis.
