Reaction to the draw against Arminia Bielefeld
Emil Forsberg and goalscorer Willi Orban speak to the media | Post-match reaction to the draw against Bielefeld
Emil Forsberg and goalscorer Willi Orban gave their thoughts after RB Leipzig's 1-1 draw away to Arminia Bielefeld secured qualification for next season's UEFA Champions League campaign.
Read the reaction to the game below.
Emil Forsberg:
- "It hasn't been an easy year for us. We fought hard over the past six months. We pulled ourselves together after the winter break; we played some great football and brought our quality and potential onto the pitch. Our good work has allowed us to play in the Champions League - qualifying for that is not a given in the Bundesliga. We should be proud of ourselves.
We've achieved a lot. We really wanted the Champions League qualification. But the DFB-Pokal final is coming up in a week and we're really looking forward to it. We will train full of motivation during the week. We'll prepare well and give it everything we have.."
Willi Orban:
- "We knew that we needed at least a draw to secure qualification for the Champions League. The final minutes were hectic; we threw everything forward and got what was in my opinion a deserved equaliser. We also had good chances to score in the first half, but Bielefeld had a fantastic goalkeeper in between the posts.
To qualify for the UCL after the first half of the season that we had is a great achievement. Even though we didn’t play to our full potential in some games, what matters at the end of the day is where you are in the table. Therefore, we deserve to be playing Champions League football.
We’re all really up for the DFB-Pokal final: the players, the club, the fans, the whole region, simply everyone. We can write history with this trophy and this fixture is an absolute highlight of the season. We have to go the extra mile and go to our absolute limit. If we do that, we can be the ones lifting the trophy on Saturday evening."
