A look back at MEGApril: A successful month for RB Leipzig
RB Leipzig round off successful April with 1-0 win against Rangers | 6 wins in 8 games | DFB-Pokal final reached | Europa League semi-final first-leg win | On course for Champions League
30 days, eight games, three different competitions – April was a busy month for the Red Bulls!
In the Bundesliga, head coach Domenico Tedesco’s side came up against four direct rivals for the Champions League places in Dortmund, Hoffenheim Leverkusen and Union Berlin. They are within touching distance of the Europa League final for the first time in club history and have made the final of the DFB-Pokal for the third time in the last four seasons.
Take a look at how the month of April went for RB Leipzig:
Bundesliga:
Perfect start to the month against BVB
What a way to kick off a big month of football! On the road against Borussia Dortmund is by no means a walk in the park, but it couldn’t have gone any better for RB Leipzig. The Red Bulls eased to a 4-1 victory thanks to two goals from Konrad Laimer and strikes from Christo Nkunku and Dani Olmo. Starting off on a high!

Draw in first leg
Five days later, RB Leipzig were back at the Red Bull Arena to welcome Italian side Atalanta BC in the first leg of the Europa League quarter-final tie. An intense game with chances at either end saw the two sides unable to be separated come full time. After a 1-1 first leg draw, all would be decided seven days later in Northern Italy.

Marcel Halstenberg scored on his first start since returning from injury, while Christopher Nkunku and Dominik Szoboszlai were also on target to give RBL a 3-0 win.

Three big points against Bayer
Another big away win for Leipzig! One goal was enough to do it – Nkunku provided Dominik Szoboszlai, whose strike gave RBL a 1-0 and saw them leapfrog their opponents Bayer 04 Leverkusen to third place in the Bundesliga table.
Together with the 4-1 win against Dortmund and 3-0 victory over Hoffenheim, that’s three wins from three against direct rivals for Champions League places this month and, more importantly, nine important points!
