100 Bundesliga home games for RB Leipzig!
Milestone marked with 3-0 win against TSG 1899 Hoffenheim | 59 wins and 208 goals in 100 top flight games at the Red Bull Arena | Already equalled record for most home goals in a season | Péter Gulácsi in goal for 98 of the 100
A cause for celebration! RB Leipzig played their 100th Bundesliga home game at the Red Bull Arena on Sunday, marking the milestone with a comfortable 3-0 win against TSG 1899 Hoffenheim.
Let’s take a look back at these 100 games. What record do RBL have at home? Which opponent was the biggest win recorded against? What painful defeats have RBL had to take at home? We’ll answer all these questions and more as we rewind back through the century of historic home games.
Where it all started:
September 10th 2016 saw RB Leipzig celebrate their very first home game in the Bundesliga! The Red Bull Arena was the venue for RBL’s game against Borussia Dortmund.
42,959 fans got to experience a truly fantastic evening of football, with the winning goal in the 89th minute: Naby Keita got on the end of an Oliver Burke cross from the right and netted the first home goal in RBL’s Bundesliga history – cue bedlam in the Red Bull Arena, as the goal gave us our first-ever top-flight win.

59 wins and 208 goals at the Red Bull Arena
Exactly five years and seven months after that historic first win, April 10th 2022 saw the 100th home league game for RBL, and an equally joyful experience for the fans, as the team ran out 3-0 winners over TSG Hoffenheim.
Our home Bundesliga record:
- 100 Bundesliga home games
- 59 wins
- 26 draws
- 15 defeats
- 208 goals scored
- 100 goals conceded
2016/17 was RB Leipzig’s most successful campaign at home, with 38 points picked up from 17 games, 12 wins, two draws and just three defeats.
The 2018/19 season also saw a fine home run, with just a single defeat from their 17 games, 36 points collected and only nine goals conceded!
The subsequent campaign, 2019/20, was the only season where RBL failed to earn 30 points from their home games (earning 29). This season so far, the team has collected 32, meaning that they can equal their record of 38 points at home from 2016/17 with two wins.
The home fans at the Red Bull Arena have seen their team score 38 times, which equals their best ever scoring record from the 2019/20 season. There are still two home games to go, though...
Lots of highs, not so many lows
Whilst our lowest points tally at home came in the 19/20 season, it also saw our biggest-ever win in the top tier! Matchday 10’s fixture against 1. FSV Mainz 05 ended 8-0 in our favour, with RBL five up before half time. A 5-0 lead at the interval has never happened for us at the Red Bull Arena before or since, and we added three further goals to the scoresheet after the break.
We have only ever won one game by more than eight goals, an 11-0 victory over BSV Gelenau in the 2013/14 Saxony Cup. On the other hand, we have scored a half-dozen goals three times in the Bundesliga: once against 1. FC Nürnberg on matchday 7 in 2018/19, and twice against Hertha BSC, in March 2018 and September 2021.
Our fans have been able to celebrate their side scoring four or more goals in 15 Bundesliga home games. Sadly, there have been 14 games in which our goal music, “I feel good”, couldn’t be played, either because we drew 0-0 (8 times) or lost without scoring (6 times).
Our biggest Bundesliga home wins:
- 2019/20 Season | Matchday 10
November 2nd 2019
RB Leipzig 8-0 1. FSV Mainz 05
- 2021/22 Season | Matchday 6
September 25th 2021
RB Leipzig 6–0 Hertha BSC
- 2018/19 Season | Matchday 7
October 7th 2018
RB Leipzig 6–0 1. FC Nürnberg
- 2018/19 Season | Matchday 27
March 30th 2018
RB Leipzig 6–0 Hertha BSC
The heaviest defeats we have had to endure at home in the Bundesliga were against FC Bayern München (1-4, 2021/22 Season), Bayer 04 Leverkusen (1-4, 2018/19 Season) and TSG Hoffenheim (2-5, 2017/18 Season).
Our most goal-laden game at the Red Bull Arena came in our first top-flight campaign: an absolute thriller of a match saw RBL narrowly defeated 5-4 by FC Bayern in May 2017.
Goal-hungry RBL boys at home
Our all-time record goalscorer, Timo Werner, is also our most prolific scorer of goals at home in the Bundesliga. The Germany international, currently playing for reigning European champions Chelseas FC, found the net 49 times in league games at the Red Bull Arena. In second place behind him is Yussuf Poulsen on 20 goals.
Our top home goalscorers:
- Timo Werner: 49
- Yussuf Poulsen: 20
- Emil Forsberg: 17
- Christopher Nkunku: 15
- Marcel Sabitzer: 12
Christopher Nkunku is the player with the most assists in our 100 Bundesliga home games. He notched his 21st in our 100th home game, overtaking Emil Forsberg (20) in the process. Timo Werner is also high up on this leaderboard, setting up 18 goals, and his 67 goal involvements means the 26 year old is the player with most goals and assists at home for RBL in the Bundesliga.
The most home games:
- Péter Gulácsi: 98
- Yussuf Poulsen: 82
- Emil Forsberg: 74
- Marcel Sabitzer: 74
- Willi Orban: 72
The most appearances in an RBL shirt at home in the Bundesliga does not go to an attacker, though: captain and number 1 Péter Gulácsi has only missed two of these 100 games, this season’s 3-1 defeat to Bayer 04 Leverkusen, and a 4-0 win against Darmstadt in 2016/17.
An attendance of over 2.7 million!
Finally, football can be played for the fans again! After so long with reduced capacity or behind-closed-doors games, the Red Bull Arena can now be packed to the rafters. Since our first Bundesliga home game in 2016, exactly 2,773,290 fans have attended the stadium.
The record attendance at a game following our stadium’s rebuild has come this season. Our 2-1 win against Borussia Dortmund on November 6th 2021 had 43,429 fans present.
