Signify is the world market leader for LED and stadium lighting and as an "Official Partner", supports RB Leipzig in the modernisation of the Red Bull Arena with an innovative lighting concept.
The partnership includes, among other things, a conversion and smart control of the entire lighting systems, so that visitors to our stadium can look forward to an even more spectacular atmosphere with unique lighting scenes in the future and the Red Bull Arena can offer stadium experiences and unforgettable footballing moments at the top international level.
Signify provides a central lighting management system for this purpose and will also equip the Red Bull Arena's exterior facade and stadium roof with special lighting and illuminations.
At the heart of the Red Bull Arena’s new lighting system is the Interact connected lighting solution. Interact Sports makes it possible for lighting across the entire stadium to be controlled through one dashboard, from the pitch, to the catering areas, to the façade and surroundings of the Red Bull Arena. Since last season, every moment of the action has been rendered crystal clear, flicker-free and compliant with international broadcasting standards with Philips ArenaVision LED floodlights. More projecs are planned for the duration of the contract. For example, the interview area will sport a new digital look.
Over the course of further construction phases, the new stadium fan shop as well as individual segments of the hospitality area will also be illuminated in new light and connected to the Interact lighting management system.
For the new season, the south façade of the Red Bull Arena will be illuminated in the club’s colors. Color Kinetics lights, controlled via Interact, can create stunning new light scenes to celebrate special occasions, events, or international games, bringing the excitement of the stadium to the surrounding area.
Over the next two years, the façade lighting will be further expanded. In addition, the roof of the stadium will be given a unique look thanks to special illumination. The Philips Color Kinetics luminaires will also be integrated into the Interact IoT platform and, using Interact Landmark, individual lighting scenes, maintenance management and connectivity with the rest of the lighting in and around the arena can be ensured.
Signify will also kit out RB Leipzig’s home of eSports with the latest generation of the Philips Hue entertainment lighting system. As a result, the lighting throughout the room adapts to the game action on the monitor, allowing the RBL eSports team "RBLZ Gaming" and spectators to immerse themselves even more deeply in the world of virtual football.
RB Leipzig wants to offer the highest possible standard in terms of safety for fans, staff and players. On top of known measures, innovative solutions and new technologies were introduced.
Signify offers products that have been proven to fight viruses and bacteria with UV-C light. Based on these products, a joint pilot project was created to test the use of UV-C light for disinfecting surfaces and indoor air in different areas of the commercial buildings and the stadium.
The UV-C technology is currently being used for the first time in the Red Bulls' team dressing room. Further test areas in the stadium (including kiosks and sanitary facilities) are already being considered.
Managing Director, Signify in Germany, Austria & Switzerland:
"Signify is the global market and innovation leader for LED and sports lighting. So we know what it takes to put the game in the right light and give the fans a great experience. But we are aiming even higher with RB Leipzig: Together, we want to show what the stadium of the future will look like. What that means is a smart lighting network that offers even more than just great light. Of course, the most important thing is and will remain the action on the pitch, but light will fundamentally change the stadium experience in the future: from navigation in the stadium to increased safety inside the stadium with, among other things, disinfection of the air using UV-C technology, on-demand illumination of the access routes, and Internet connections via light waves. We are delighted to be working with RB Leipzig to implement our vision of the stadium of the future in the coming years."
Chief Commercial Officer, RB Leipzig:
"With the new lighting from Signify, we offer our visitors and TV viewers the complete emotion and dynamics of the game and a great soccer experience. Thanks to the longevity of LED and the reliability of the systems, we can save energy consumption and costs on the one hand, and on the other hand also reduce the maintenance costs while in use."
Director of Sales & Business Development, RB Leipzig:
"We are proud to be the first club in the Bundesliga to add another layer to our hygiene concept with Signify's UV-C technology to provide the highest possible safety for our players and fans. Depending on how the tests go, we will expand the set-up accordingly in the coming years. Further innovation projects are already being planned."

True heroes stand by their team
Ur-Krostitzer and RB Leipzig: a first-class partnership
The Ur-Krostitzer slogan "True heroes stand by their team" has almost programmatic significance for RBL fans. The Krostitzer brewery has been RB Leipzig's beer partner since 2010 and has supported the team on its journey from the Reggionalliga to the Bundesliga. Ur-Krostitzer's presence in the stadium underlines RB Leipzig's commitment to the region and meets the expectations of fans who want to enjoy their local beer brand in the stadium.
Ur-Krostitzer and RB Leipzig show that tradition and innovation can be perfectly combined in football. And for the fans, it is clear that there is no better beer to toast "first-class" sporting success. The cooperation between Ur-Krostitzer and RB Leipzig has also been agreed upon for the coming years.
Born on 11th May 1534
The German Purity Law was just eighteen years old when George the Bearded, Duke of Saxony granted brewing rights to the Crostewitz manor. The date is considered the foundation of the Krostitz brewery. The Ur-Krostitzer brand thus has almost half a millennium of brewing expertise to its credit and is considered one of the most traditional premium pilsner brands in Germany.
Ennobled by King of Sweden, Gustavus Adolphus
The Swedish king's portrait adorns the logo of the brewery, dating back to an incident during the devastating Thirty Years' War. Legend has it that the Swedish King Gustav II Adolf, plagued by great thirst, rode through the town of Crostitz and received a beer from the local brewmaster, which had been brewed to be especially tart because of the upcoming harvest festival. Gustav II Adolf finished the beer in one go.
He praised the drink and gave the brewer a gold ring set with a ruby to express his gratitude. Gustav II Adolf went on his way and the next day victoriously defeated the imperial troops of the Count of Tilly in the Battle of Breitenfeld. The royal portrait has since become the brand of the Krostitz brewery.
